As announced previously in President Ogasawara's message of condolence, Dr. Ko Shimamoto (63), Professor of Graduate School of Biological Sciences, passed away peacefully on September 28, 2013.

His numerous research publications and presentations at scientific society meetings over a long span of years are a tribute to his achievements in the field of plant science.

A farewell ceremony will be held in Professor Shimamoto's honor as follows:

Place: Hotel Nikko Nara, in Nara City
Time: 1:30-4:00 PM. (4th Floor, Doors open at 1:00 PM).
