On Friday, June 14, a delegation from the University of Science and Technology of Hanoi, headed by President Jean-Marc Lavest, visited our university.
At the courtesy visit, Dr. Kazuhiro Shiozaki (President), Dr. Jun Ota (Vice President for International Affairs), Prof. Hisaji Maki (Division of Biological Science, Prof. Yasumasa Bessho (Director of Division of Biological Science), Prof. Satoko Yoshida (Advisor to the President in International Relations), Mr. Takashi Imura (Director of Service and Support Department), Mr. Katsuhiro Azuma (Head of International Affairs Division) and Mr. Robert King (UEA of the Center for International Students and Scholars) welcomed the delegation.
In the greetings, President Shiozaki expressed his hope for further strengthening relationships and collaboration to nurture the young generation of researchers. President Lavest shared the current situation as well as challenges of USTH and other graduate schools in Vietnam, and passionately spoke about the potential of joint programs with NAIST. Following this, both presidents signed an inter-university exchange agreement and a student exchange agreement at a signing ceremony.
After the signing ceremony, the delegation visited several laboratories in the Division of Biological Science, the Division of Materials Science and the Division of Information Science. In addition to interacting with Vietnamese students in these labs, the delegation had active discussions with professors about their research and gave opinions about future exchanges.
This visit was a meaningful opportunity for both sides to consider further future collaborations.
