Orientation for Students with Children Entering Elementary School Held by CISS

On April 3rd, the Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) hosted an orientation for students with children who are starting elementary school from this school semester.

The session was designed to support families as they prepare for their children's new school life in Japan. It provided essential information on daily routines such as walking to and from school, as well as an introduction to the rules and expectations of elementary school life in Japan for both children and their parents.

As part of the program, participants walked along the school-recommended route together. During this activity, they learned important traffic safety rules, including how to safely cross streets, follow pedestrian signals, and remain aware of their surroundings. In addition, guidance was provided on identifying potentially hazardous areas along the route and understanding which places children should avoid for their safety.

Through this hands-on experience, families were able to gain practical knowledge and confidence about their children's commute to school. The orientation also offered a valuable opportunity for participants to become more familiar with the local environment and safety practice.

CISS will continue to provide support to international students and their families to help ensure a safe and smooth transition to life in Japan.
