On Monday, August 31, Dr. Shiohara Amane, who is responsible for supporting international collaborative research and related initiatives at the University of New South Wales (UNSW), visited NAIST. She was welcomed by Dr. Kato Hirokazu (Executive Director/Vice President), Dr. Ohta Jun (Executive Director/Vice President), Dr. Kikuchi Noriyoshi (Deputy Director, Strategic Initiative for Research and Innovation), and Dr. Maki Hisaji (Deputy Director, Strategic Initiative for Global Leadership Development).

The meeting began with welcome remarks from Dr. Kato, followed by an introduction by Dr. Shiohara.

During the meeting, Dr. Kikuchi and Dr. Maki introduced NAIST's profile and distinctive features, as well as its initiatives in international collaboration and industry-government-academia partnerships. In particular, Dr. Shiohara showed strong interest in the NAIST's industry-government-academia partnership activities and raised several specific questions about these initiatives.

Dr. Shiohara then provided an overview of UNSW, highlighting its high standing in the QS World University Rankings as Australia's top-ranked university, as well as the distinctive characteristics of its campuses and its strengths in education and research. This led to an active exchange of views among the participants.

The visit provided a valuable opportunity to deepen mutual understanding between the two institutions. It is hoped that this visit will lead to further collaboration and exchange in the future.
