The 20th NAIST Tea Time (March 29, 2021)

The Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) held the 20th NAIST Tea Time on March 29th for NAIST international students and scholars, and the international and surrounding community. This event, as written in the NAIST Top Global University (TGU) project plan, was held as part of NAIST's mission to maintain a global campus and promote understanding among our growing community.

This Tea Time, titled 'Family Life in Japan', was held as an information and consultation session for international students and researchers, etc. who are big steps in their lives in Japan, such as getting married, having children, or bringing their families to Japan. In response to the current pandemic and the recent increase in infections in the Kansai area, the event was held online. CISS UEA Robert King began the event introducing information about the necessary procedures for bringing dependents to Japan, getting married in Japan or abroad, having children in Japan, the Japanese school system and various procedures, and information about the different support offered by the local government. Following this information session, current NAIST international students and a student planning to enter NAIST began a question and answer session, asking about schools in Japan, visas for dependents and other aspects about living in Japan and NAIST.

CISS will hold this information and consultation session regularly for the many students who start and raise families at NAIST. We hope that any students that are considering marriage, childbirth, child-raising, or any other family-related step in their life will participate in this event next time.
