Center for International Students and Scholars

The Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) is here to ease and enhance living, studying and working in Japan for NAIST students, scholars and their spouses and families. Some new students and scholars may be well versed in Japanese culture and life in Japan, but many of you may be experiencing Japanese culture or life outside of your home country for the first time. CISS's mission is to offer counselling, translation and information services in areas such as:

  • Cultural differences/ student-faculty relations
  • Municipal paperwork (insurance, taxes, etc.)
  • Local information and announcements
  • Housing issues
  • Family support (pregnancy, childbirth and childcare; schooling, medical referrals, etc.)

Please feel free to consult with us about whatever issues or questions you may have and we will try to find the best solution or introduce you to the section that can help you.

Our office is open from 8:30 a.m. to 5:15 ｐ.m. during weekdays.
