On November 21^st, NAIST welcomed 12 Malaysian students and 2 supervising teachers from Sekolah Berasrama PenuhI Integrasi Rawang High School, as part of the "Japan-Malaysia Exchange Project 2016～Change the World in our EXCHANGE～," organized by the National Soni Youth Outdoor Learning Center. (Commissioned by MEXT)
This project began in 2011 and NAIST has taken part in it since 2012, welcoming Malaysian high school students to cultivate a deeper understanding of Japan and to become familiar with NAIST.

Director Tsutomu Hashida and International Activities Coordinator Junko Iwatsuki of the Division for Global Education first welcomed the Malaysian group and this was then followed by a representative of the Malaysian high school expressing the group's gratitude towards NAIST faculty and staff. Executive Director/Vice President Dr. Mikio Kataoka closed the greetings with a general introduction of NAIST.

Following this, two of our international students from Malaysia joined the group and shared their experiences living and studying at NAIST and in Japan. After prayer and lunch, the students visited each graduate school and gained first-hand experience to understand what graduate school studies are like. They attentively listened to the explanations of the cutting-edge research performed in our graduate schools: Novel methods that enable robots to learn complex motor skills; Cellular membranes- the essential component of cells that protects cells; and also learned about controlling and observing molecular alignment through a demonstration using a metronome. The program was concluded successfully with students asking many questions about the various research and technology topics.
