On July 4th, 2018, Vice-Head of the Physics Institute of CNRS (Paris) Dr. Niels KELLER, Dr. Benoit DEVINCRE of the same institute, Director of the CNRS Tokyo Office for Northern Asia Mr. Jacques MALEVAL and Research Director and Head of CEMES-CNRS (Toulouse) Dr. Etienne SNOECK visited NAIST.
At the courtesy visit, President Yokoya Naokazu, Vice President / Executive Director Toshio Hakoshima and Institute for Research Initiatives URA Takahito Shikano welcomed the delegation and exchanged information on collaboration between NAIST and research institutions in France.
The delegation then visited the Graduate School of Science and Technology's Division of Materials Science with Prof. Tsukasa Ogasawara (Dean) and Prof. Tsuyoshi Kawai (Division of Materials Science Deputy Director) gave an overview of the graduate school and Division of Materials Science. Dr. Niels KELLER followed this with an introduction of the Physics Institute of CNRS. Both parties used this meeting as a chance to convey and discuss ideas about possibilities of further research collaboration.
After this, the delegation heard explanations of various cutting-edge research while visiting the Bio-Process Engineering Lab, Photonic Molecular Science Lab, Organic Electronics Lab and the Biomimetic and Technomimetic Molecular Science Lab.
Since its establishment in October 2014, NAIST has maintained the NAIST-CEMES International Collaborative Lab for Supraphotoactive Systems and has been conducting innovative international collaborative research. Additionally, a faculty member of CEMES-CNRS was invited to join the NAIST faculty under the cross appointment faculty system.
We hope this visit will spur further collaboration with both institutions in various fields of science and technology.
