The first Final Report Meeting of the NAIST International Student Ambassador Program on September 18th, 2019 to end the year of service for this year's volunteers. The meeting was attended by the volunteers, President Yokoya, Executive Director Kakiuchi, the Division for Global Education Director Professor Hirota, the Director of the Health Care Center Doctor Hogaku, and Center for International Students and Scholars (CISS) UEA Mr. King.
After the establishment of the NAIST International Student Ambassador Program in October 2018, ten international student volunteers committed to serving as Ambassadors for the year, to serve as peer counselors and offer advice, etc. and talk about their experiences concerning studying at NAIST and living in Japan as an international student to other international students. This program was designed and implemented by CISS, the center established at NAIST through the Top Global Project.
The meeting began with the report of activities of the past year and then led into a general discussion of the program and what can be done to improve it to increase overall participation. The participating students not only had many ideas concerning the program, but also felt that it could be a valuable part of the student support network. President Yokoya gave the participants their Student Advising Certificates to close out the event.
This October marks the coming of many new students that will study at NAIST and live in Japan experiencing Japan culture. We hope to use the experiences and ideas of the Ambassadors to make the NAIST International Student Ambassador Program even more accessible to students to assure their success at NAIST.
