NAIST's 2022 Overseas Staff Development Training Program debriefing session was held on February 17th, with 25 attendees who listened to the participants' experiences.
The Overseas Staff Development Training Program was established in 2007 to organizationally promote globalization of graduate school education. Both administrative and technical staff are offered the opportunity to experience overseas universities in order to develop knowledge and expertise in international education activities and improve general planning skills.
This year an administrative staff member participated in a program with Hawaii Tokai International College (HTIC) from November 28th to December 9th. In the training program, the trainee conducted research on themes she chose individually through lectures and interviews with local staff, and presented her findings on the final day of the program.
In debriefing session, the trainee explained her research findings on types of scholarships, student aid, and digitization, and the audience could see that she was able to gain much through the training program. Following this, President SHIOZAKI Kazuhiro and a number of administrative staff members asked questions related to the implementation of what she learned through the program and how she spent her free time during the program.
Finally, TAKEGAWA Nobuhiro, Head of International Affairs Division, told the assembled staff that he hopes participation in overseas SD training would be an opportunity for them to improve their English communication skills, and hopes that they would actively take up this challenge. We will continue our efforts to develop human resources who can work globally through practical training.
